Donations are non-refundable. With three exceptions.
Every rupee donated is committed within days to programmes on the ground. For that reason, donations are generally non-refundable. However, we recognise that genuine errors happen — and we honour them in good faith.

1. Our general policy
Donations to Cognitud Foundation are voluntary contributions made without any expectation of tangible return. Because funds are deployed rapidly to the communities we serve — including teacher salaries, learning materials, and household engagement — donations are, as a rule, non-refundable.
2. When a refund will be honoured
We will refund a donation in full in any of the following cases:
- Duplicate transaction — if you accidentally make the same donation more than once and notify us within 7 days, we will refund the duplicate amount.
- Incorrect amount — if you entered the wrong amount (e.g. an extra zero) and notify us within 48 hours, we will refund the excess or the full amount, at your discretion.
- Technical or processing error — if a payment is processed but no receipt is generated, or a clear technical error occurred, we will investigate and refund where appropriate.
3. When a refund cannot be issued
- A simple change of mind after the donation has been processed and acknowledged.
- Donations older than 30 days, unless covered by one of the exceptions above.
- Donations where an 80G receipt has already been issued and used for tax filing (since the receipt creates statutory obligations on both sides).
4. How to request a refund
Please email donations@cognitud.org with the following details:
- Your full name as on the donation.
- The email address used at the time of donation.
- Donation amount and date.
- Transaction or Razorpay payment ID (from the confirmation email).
- A brief reason for the refund request.
We will respond within 2 working days with confirmation or a request for further information.
5. Processing timeline
Approved refunds are initiated within 5 working days of confirmation. The amount typically appears in your account within 7–10 working days, depending on your bank or card issuer. Refunds are credited to the original payment method.
6. 80G receipts
If an 80G tax receipt has been issued for a donation that is later refunded, the receipt becomes invalid. You agree not to claim the refunded amount as a deduction in your tax return. Cognitud will inform the relevant authorities as required by law.
7. Cancellation of recurring donations
Cognitud does not currently offer recurring donations. When we introduce them, you will be able to cancel at any time via your donor account or by emailing us. Future scheduled donations will be cancelled; past donations already processed will follow the policy above.
8. Contact
